The Kingfisher

FEATHERY FRIDAY (ON SATURDAY)

It looks something like a giant hummingbird. It is probably the most beautiful bird in the UK.



Surprise, surprise ~ it fishes expertly. Without bashing its nose on the rocks:

I don't think this one enjoys being handled. Look at its indignant little face!



This mini cartoon version is called an African Pygmy Kingfisher ... (why do pygmy everythings seem to come from Africa~??)

    J: I don't know that I've ever seen one very close. They used to be in Wales near the local waters, but I don't recall actually glimpsing one. You'd probably have needed binoculars...

    Baino: kookaburras? O yeah they look similar in the face ...

    Swedish: I'd like to know how the hell he caught it..?
