Penguins

FAT 'N' FEATHERY FRIDAY ON SATURDAY

Exclusive to the snowy southern hemispheres:

They are very photogenic:

There are between 17 and 20 species, depending who you believe; southern rockhoppers are from the Falkland Islands

A megallanic penguin from Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands:

March of the (emperor) penguins:

Look how furry these babies are:

Emperor penguin chicks:

PINGU ~ I saw one of these the other day. They're made by Finnish TV for Germany ~ hence the odd baby-babble. Very cute ~

  1. not on topic of OP, but thank you SO much for the comments you left. I am STILL recovering from that (it got me sick, and i had some left over and i did it again because i was drunk and got even sicker). It was one of the scariest experiences of my life- i matched almost all the symptoms (except death! thankfully!). Thank god i had some old valium lying around of I wouldnt have been able to breathe (i chewed and swalled the valium it was so bad)

You have no idea how much i appreciate that, THANK you!

  3. J: ~ sounds like you had a dirty hit, or what the Americans call cotton fever. I once had it from banging up a scab I found in a drawer (ie my own old bloody filter) ~ I felt so ill I still could barely walk the next day. The symptoms ~ vomiting, raging headache etc (is that what happened to you?) are v similar to blood poisoning and they say it's injecting dirt direct into the bloodstream, from bad filters, that does it... Nasty business!

Lettuce: I had neard of Pingu but never seen it till the end of last week. Pingu got hit on the beak and was bleeding ~ had to go to the dentist, and the penguin dentist was dead entertaining...!

  4. Penguins are really neat birds. Interesting that they are Antarctic birds and not in the Arctic.
