Eva Cassidy: Autumn Leaves

EVA CASSIDY: AUTUMN LEAVES

Eva Cassidy was a struggling painter and singer all her life, known only on a small live music circuit in Washington DC, USA.
I wondered why this singer with such an amazing voice had somehow managed to pass me by... didn't realize that she only achieved fame posthumously after the British radio DJ Terry Wogan (v famous Irishman on BBC Radio 2) played her version of Over the Rainbow. This received such a rapturous response that the recordings she had made were released in Britain, topping the album charts. Since then she has become recognized internationally, selling over eight million records worldwide.
Eva Cassidy died of melanoma (skincancer) aged 33...

  2. I thought it was "her" song; didn't realize Sting actually wrote and recorded it first
