WILL THE WONDERS never cease?!? I am now proud owner of so much pickled baby corn (found in an outsized metal wheeliebin) I could barely carry all the jars home.
I love baby corn, but this stuff (labelled in Polish) reeks of vinegar even if you soak it in water for ages. I'm sure there's some nice way of cooking it, but it's hardly going to go in my faux-takeaway-style Chinese efforts, is it?
Having said that, once a jar is opened, I can easily do the entire thing in front of Eastenders...
I'm only posting this because I've **** all else to say. I'm depressed out of my mind (yes of course it came back; it always does) and as usual all I have planned has gone pear-shaped...
PS: NO! I did not nick yesterday's salad tomatoes. I found them in a puddle at the back of Morrisons in the rain. Along with 3 packs of 4 kiwi fruit...

i'm glad you're getting your 5 fruit and veg a day anyway.
Pickled corn. Hmmm...I like pickled asparagus as a treat so maybe just munch on it like it is or have with crackers and some hot sauce.
I like corn but not too keen on it pickled so I won't be coming for tea. ;)
I don't think pickled corn is meant to be used in cooking anyway. I don't understand how you are just finding this food - is the store throwing it out? Leaving it for the homeless?
You know some people get ALL their food from the refuse of supermarkets who are compelled to throw away things that are out of date whether they're actually 'off' or not. And I've seen truckloads of perfectly good 2 day old bread being trawled to the local piggery when it would make fab breadcrumbs or toast! In a way, you're reducing waste although pickled corn? Hmmmm . ..not sure I like the sound of that.
Liz: aye!
Syd: never tried pickled asparagus ~ wouldn't it go kinda soggy..?
Akelamalu: I much prefer fresh; though at £1 for a pack of 12 at discount I don't buy it very much...
Jeannie: that was another shop. It was over-date (but pickles are MEANT to last...) Poles seem to adore pickles so I'm sure there IS some way of cooking 'em ~ I just don't know what or how...
Baino: that's called Freeganism!
