This belongs to Liz Taylor, and is known as the Krupp diamond. I believe it is her favourite gem, bought for her by hubby Richard Burton. She used to wear it all the time! How scarey... It weighs a whopping 33.19 carats and is emerald cut, or more precisely, Asscher cut. Gorgeous...though I prefer pear cut. :o)

ReplyDeleteI really like that Krupp diamond. It was said to have belonged to Vera Krupp, the wife of a munitions manufacturer in Nazi Germany ... The asscher cut suits a quality stone of no colour, I think. I'm not so sure it would look so good on something like the Hope Diamond, which I would really like to see close up, as it appears to be the same colour as a large body of water ~ e.g. a mysterious glacial lake... or something
